SEN Teaching Assistant

Pay: -95 - -115 per day
Contract Type: Full-time, Temporary to Permanent

Commutable from: Redbridge, Newham, Hackney, Haringey, and Enfield.
Long Term Futures are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant for a full-time position within a specialist SEN school in Waltham Forest. This role involves working closely with students who have complex needs, providing vital support to help them navigate their educational journey in a safe and nurturing environment. This contract is designed to transition from a temporary start to a permanent position, offering long-term stability in a rewarding setting.
Responsibilities
- Providing tailored 1:1 and small group support to students with complex physical, medical, and learning needs.
- Assisting with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and supporting pupils in meeting their EHCP targets.
- Facilitating communication and social engagement using specialist tools where required.
- Supporting personal care and mobility requirements with dignity and respect.
- Working collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and external healthcare professionals to ensure a holistic approach to student welfare.
- Monitoring and recording student progress, providing regular feedback to the teaching team.
Essential Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience working with children or young adults specialising in complex SEN or medical needs.
- A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to supporting students with varying abilities.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- A commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Possession of an enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
