We are seeking a caring, dedicated, and enthusiastic Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join our supportive and inclusive school community. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children with a range of additional needs, helping them to access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential.

About the Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, the SENCO, and external professionals to provide targeted support for pupils with special educational needs. You will play a vital role in creating a positive and nurturing learning environment where every child can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with SEN.
  • Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs and learning styles.
  • Support pupils'' emotional, social, and behavioural development.
  • Assist in the implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and individual support plans.
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and positive engagement in learning.
  • Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment.
  • Work collaboratively with parents, teachers, and external agencies where appropriate.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with children, ideally within an educational or SEN setting.
  • Demonstrates patience, empathy, and understanding.
  • Has strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Can build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
  • Is proactive, flexible, and able to work as part of a team.
  • Has a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience working with children or young people.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • A current Enhanced DBS certificate registered with the DBS Update Service (mandatory).

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or Level 3) or equivalent.
  • Experience supporting pupils with autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, SEMH, or other additional needs.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Experience working within a primary or secondary school environment.
