Sen Teaching Assistant

Job Summary: We are looking for a patient, committed, and empathetic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive school in Kingston upon Thames. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a rewarding and varied role. You will be working alongside teachers and SENCOs to support pupils with a range of additional needs, such as autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. Key Responsibilities: Provide 1:1 and group support to pupils with special educational needs, both in and out of the classroom. Assist in the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs), behaviour plans, and learning targets. Foster a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment where all pupils can thrive. Support children with their learning, emotional regulation, and social interaction. Help manage behaviour calmly and positively, following school policies. Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to ensure tailored support. Supervise pupils during unstructured times (e.g. lunch, break) if required. Maintain safeguarding, confidentiality, and a high standard of care. Person Specification: Essential: Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN in school, care, or community settings. A calm, supportive, and proactive approach.
