SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Southsea

Salary Scale: £13.80 to £15 per hour

Start: ASAP /September 2025

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to provide support to a child with high needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, non-verbal communication, sensory needs, and personal care. This position is based at a special school in Southsea, and will run from September 2025.

Responsibilities of SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a child with high needs, including sensory needs, non-verbal communication, and personal care.
  • Assist in achieving learning and development targets for the child.
  • Collaborate effectively with teaching staff and other professionals to create an inclusive, supportive environment.
  • Foster an environment that promotes the child''s independence and engagement in learning.
  • Implement personalised strategies for communication, behaviour management, and sensory support.

Requirements for SEN Teaching Assistant role:

  • Passionate about working inclusively with children with additional needs.
  • Experience supporting children with SEN, including ASD, ADHD, and non-verbal communication.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable providing personal care and supporting sensory needs.
  • Previous experience working in a similar setting is an advantage.
