About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant to join a supportive Primary SEN Unit based within a mainstream school in Dagenham. The unit supports pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) who require additional support to access learning in a structured and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with autism in small group and 1:1 settings

  • Implement strategies to support communication, sensory needs and emotional regulation

  • Work alongside the class teacher and therapists to deliver personalised learning

  • Support pupils with transitions, routines and social development

  • Use visual timetables, PECS, and structured learning approaches

Requirements

  • Experience supporting children with autism in a school or SEN setting

  • Understanding of behaviour regulation strategies

  • Calm, patient and nurturing approach

  • Team player with strong communication skills

Desirable

  • Experience with PECS, TEACCH or Makaton

  • SEN qualifications or training
