Veritas Education is currently recruiting a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary/secondary school in Islington. This is a full-time role starting immediately, ideal for someone passionate about supporting children with special educational needs (SEN) on both a 1:1 basis and within small groups.
The Role:
- Supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs, including ASD, ADHD, and speech and language needs
- Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver tailored support
- Providing 1:1 support to students to help them access the curriculum and reach their full potential
- Leading or assisting in small group interventions
- Monitoring progress and reporting to relevant staff
- Helping to create a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment
Requirements:
- Experience working with children with SEN (in a school or similar setting)
- Confident supporting pupils 1:1 and in small groups
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- A proactive, flexible, and patient approach
- A valid DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)
Desirable:
- Experience with Makaton, PECs, or other SEN-specific strategies
- Relevant TA or SEN qualifications
- Experience working in London schools
