SEN Teaching Assistant – Long-Term Opportunity
Location: Eastbourne, East Sussex

Annual Salary: £17,365 – £19,500 
Hours: 08:30 – 15:30
Contract Type: Full-Time, Long-Term

Are you passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and creating inclusive learning experiences?

A warm, welcoming, and diverse primary school in Eastbourne is seeking a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team on a long-term basis from September 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a genuine impact in the lives of children with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), offering tailored support to help each child thrive.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work alongside the class teacher to implement personalised strategies and scaffolding for pupils with SEN.

  • Provide targeted 1:1 and small group support across the curriculum to encourage engagement and progress.

  • Contribute to an inclusive, nurturing classroom environment where every child feels valued.

  • Assist pupils in developing emotional and behavioural regulation using proven strategies.

  • Prepare differentiated learning resources that are accessible and tailored to individual needs.

  • Support students with communication challenges, helping them access the curriculum effectively.

  • Collaborate with staff to create and maintain individualised learning plans.

What We’re Looking For:
  • Experience supporting children with SEN – ideally in a school setting, though other relevant experience is also considered.

  • Strong understanding of EHCPs, inclusion strategies, and how to effectively scaffold learning.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with pupils, staff, and families.

  • A patient, proactive, and empathetic approach with a strong commitment to inclusion.

  • Confidence in supporting emotional regulation and pupil wellbeing.

  • A current DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
