SEN Teaching Assistant | High Peak (SK22) | -95105 per day | Long Term Role | Starting September 2025

The Opportunity:

  • Join a dedicated and nurturing all-through special needs Primary school in the Derbyshire (SK22) area, supporting children with a range of complex needs including autism, communication difficulties, sensory processing challenges, and behavioural needs.
  • This is a long-term, full-time role beginning in September 2025, perfect for experienced SEN practitioners looking to make a meaningful and lasting difference in a specialist setting.
  • Collaborate with experienced SENCOs, class teachers, and therapists to provide highly personalised support.

  • Full-time, Monday to Friday during term time only.
  • Paid up to -105 per day with free on-site parking and immediate trial days available.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support across primary phases, adapting to individual learning styles, supporting EHCP targets, and promoting independent learning.
  • Support pupils with autism, SEMH, and complex communication needs in developing social skills, emotional regulation, and literacy/numeracy skills through engaging and motivating approaches.
  • Contribute to a structured and safe learning environment by implementing consistent routines, positive behaviour strategies, and safeguarding practices.
  • Assist with personal care, life-skills development, and the use of IT to enhance learning where appropriate (training provided if needed).
  • Collaborate effectively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and parents/carers to ensure holistic pupil development and clear communication.
  • Participate in professional development, reflect on your practice, follow all school policies, and carry out any other reasonable duties as part of your role.

Who We''re Looking For:

  • A Level 3 qualification or equivalent in education, childcare or health and social care is essential.
  • Experience in a special school, SEN unit, or working with pupils with SEND in any phase (Primary through to Post-16) is highly desirable.
  • Confident supporting children with autism, SEMH, communication challenges, or sensory needs.
  • Calm, consistent, and empathetic, able to support pupils through both their academic and emotional challenges.
  • Someone who is proactive, adaptable, and committed to inclusive education.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
