TimePlan Education are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant with BSL Level 2 to support children with special educational needs.

As a Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who are deaf or hearing impaired, as well as pupils with additional SEN needs. You will provide one-to-one and small group support throughout the school day, ensuring pupils are able to fully access the curriculum and wider school activities. Your role will involve using BSL to communicate effectively, supporting classroom learning, and contributing to a positive and inclusive environment. You will also assist in mentoring sessions, provide support during break times, and work with pupils who may present more complex or challenging behaviours.

You will be a key member of the child''s support team, working closely with the SENCO, senior leadership, and external professionals including therapists, healthcare providers, and CAMHS.

Job Responsibilities

  • Confidently support pupils with hearing impairments and other SEN needs using BSL Level 2 or above.

  • Engage and support pupils both academically and socially.

  • Provide classroom assistance, including communication support.

  • Supervise pupils'' behaviour and encourage positive outcomes.

  • Assist with personal care where required.

Job Requirements

  • BSL Level 2 qualification (essential).

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND (desirable).

  • Calm, empathetic, and resilient.

  • Strong communication skills and behaviour management.

  • Valid DBS registered on the update service (or willing to apply).

  • Available full-time and able to commit to a long-term role.
