SEN Teaching Assistants & SEND Support Staff - Shrewsbury

We are currently recruiting for various SEN Teaching Assistant and SEND Support positions across Shrewsbury, supporting children and young people from EYFS through to 18+.

About the Roles

We are looking for enthusiastic and caring support staff to work with pupils who may have a range of additional needs, including SEND.

Depending on the individual setting and role, you may be supporting pupils with:

Autism / ASC.

ADHD.

Complex learning needs.

Communication and interaction needs.

Social, emotional and mental health needs.

Physical or medical needs.

Moderate or severe learning difficulties.

Behavioural needs.

Sensory needs.

You will work closely with teachers and other members of the school team to ensure pupils receive the appropriate support to access learning and develop their confidence and independence.

Your Responsibilities

As an SEN Teaching Assistant or SEND Support Worker, your responsibilities may include:

Providing 1:1 or small-group support to pupils.

Supporting pupils to access the curriculum.

Helping children and young people develop their communication and social skills.

Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour.

Encouraging independence and confidence.

Assisting with classroom activities and learning.

Supporting pupils with their individual learning and development targets.

Working closely with teachers and other professionals.

Providing a calm, consistent and nurturing presence.

Supporting pupils during lessons, break times and other activities.

Helping create an inclusive and positive learning environment.

Following individual support plans and school policies.

Promoting safeguarding and the welfare of pupils at all times.

Experienced SEN Teaching Assistants.

Experienced Learning Support Assistants.

SEND Support Workers.

Teaching Assistants with mainstream experience looking to move into SEND.

Candidates with experience supporting children or young people with additional needs.

Graduates interested in a career within education or SEND.

Candidates with relevant care, support or youth-work experience.

People with a genuine passion for helping children and young people develop.

You don''t necessarily need extensive SEND experience - attitude, patience, resilience and a genuine desire to make a difference are extremely important.
