Tradewind Recruitment is proud to be working in partnership with a well-established specialist school in West London to recruit a committed and enthusiastic SEN Teacher to join their team.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work within a nurturing and highly structured environment supporting young people with a range of complex learning needs, including autism, moderate to severe learning difficulties, and associated communication and social interaction needs. The school places a strong emphasis on developing independence, life skills, and positive post-16 pathways for its learners.

The Role

As an SEN Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging, differentiated lessons to secondary-aged pupils working at a range of levels. You will plan and deliver a tailored curriculum that meets individual EHCP outcomes, with a strong focus on functional skills, communication, and personal development.

Working closely with a dedicated team of teaching assistants, therapists, and senior leaders, you will help create a consistent and supportive learning environment where every young person is encouraged to achieve their full potential.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivering differentiated lessons for secondary-aged pupils with complex SEND needs.
  • Supporting the development of communication, social skills, and independence.
  • Implementing structured teaching strategies and personalised learning approaches.
  • Tracking and assessing pupil progress against EHCP targets and developmental goals.
  • Working collaboratively with therapists, support staff, and families.
  • Promoting positive behaviour and maintaining a safe, structured learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience working with pupils with autism and/or complex learning needs (secondary-aged preferred).
  • Strong understanding of SEND pedagogy and differentiated teaching strategies.
  • Confidence using structured approaches, visual supports, and communication systems (e.g., AAC).
  • Excellent classroom management, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • A patient, resilient, and compassionate approach to teaching.
  • A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for young people with additional needs.

What the School Offers:

  • A supportive and experienced leadership team.
  • High-quality training and ongoing professional development in SEND.
  • Access to specialist resources and multidisciplinary support.
  • A collaborative and dedicated staff community.
  • The opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of young people preparing for adulthood.

Whether you are an experienced SEN Teacher or a mainstream practitioner looking to transition into specialist education, this is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive and forward-thinking environment.
