SEN Teacher – Specialist SEN School (Full-Time | Temp to Permanent)

A dedicated SEN school in Watford is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and compassionate SEN Teacher to join their team on a full-time temp-to-perm basis from February 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs within a specialist educational environment.
The school caters for pupils with a range of complex needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), communication and interaction difficulties, sensory needs, and social, emotional, and mental health challenges. With a strong focus on personalised learning, the school provides a structured, nurturing setting where every pupil is encouraged to thrive both academically and personally.
The RoleAs part of a skilled and supportive staff team, you will deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to the individual learning needs of pupils. You will play a vital role in helping students build confidence, independence, and essential life skills through a creative and pupil-centred approach to teaching.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and deliver tailored lessons for pupils with a variety of SEN needs.
- Adapt teaching methods and classroom activities to support different learning styles and abilities.
- Use visual supports, structured routines, and positive behaviour strategies to maximise engagement.
- Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, therapists, SENCOs, and parents/carers.
- Monitor pupil progress and contribute to EHCP reviews and target setting.
- Create a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Encourage emotional development, communication skills, and independence.
- Experience teaching or supporting pupils within an SEN school or specialist setting.
- QTS/QTLS is desirable, although experienced unqualified SEN teachers may also be considered.
- Strong understanding of autism and additional learning needs.
- Patient, resilient, and adaptable with a nurturing approach to education.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Holds an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willing to apply for one.
