Location: Watford
Start Date: February 2026

A dedicated SEN school in Watford is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and compassionate SEN Teacher to join their team on a full-time temp-to-perm basis from February 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs within a specialist educational environment.

The school caters for pupils with a range of complex needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), communication and interaction difficulties, sensory needs, and social, emotional, and mental health challenges. With a strong focus on personalised learning, the school provides a structured, nurturing setting where every pupil is encouraged to thrive both academically and personally.

The Role

As part of a skilled and supportive staff team, you will deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to the individual learning needs of pupils. You will play a vital role in helping students build confidence, independence, and essential life skills through a creative and pupil-centred approach to teaching.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver tailored lessons for pupils with a variety of SEN needs.
  • Adapt teaching methods and classroom activities to support different learning styles and abilities.
  • Use visual supports, structured routines, and positive behaviour strategies to maximise engagement.
  • Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, therapists, SENCOs, and parents/carers.
  • Monitor pupil progress and contribute to EHCP reviews and target setting.
  • Create a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Encourage emotional development, communication skills, and independence.
About You
  • Experience teaching or supporting pupils within an SEN school or specialist setting.
  • QTS/QTLS is desirable, although experienced unqualified SEN teachers may also be considered.
  • Strong understanding of autism and additional learning needs.
  • Patient, resilient, and adaptable with a nurturing approach to education.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Holds an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willing to apply for one.
What the School Offers
  • A welcoming and highly supportive SEN school environment.
  • Small class sizes with excellent staff-to-pupil ratios.
  • Specialist training and ongoing CPD opportunities.
  • Purpose-built facilities and well-resourced classrooms.
  • Opportunities for career progression within SEN education.
  • Competitive pay package and potential for a permanent contract.
