We are seeking a dedicated and experienced teacher to join our team at a school in Aylesbury, supporting students with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD). As a PMLD Teacher, you will play a vital role in creating a supportive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment for students with complex needs. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver personalised, meaningful learning experiences tailored to each student''s individual needs.
About the Role:
- Design and implement Individualised Education Plans (IEPs)andnbsp;tailored to the unique needs of students with PMLD, setting clear, achievable learning goals.
- Deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that accommodate a wide range of learning styles and sensory needs.
- Collaborate closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and other specialistsandnbsp;to ensure a fully integrated and holistic approach to student support.
- Continuously assess and monitor student progress, adapting teaching strategies and resources as needed to support individual development.
- Maintain open and effective communication with parents and caregivers, providing regular updates and working together on strategies to enhance learning and wellbeing.
- Create and nurture an inclusive classroom environmentandnbsp;that encourages empathy, mutual respect, and positive social interaction among all students.
- Engage in ongoing professional development, staying up to date with best practices and developments in special education and PMLD provision.
- Apply appropriate behaviour support strategiesandnbsp;to foster a calm, respectful, and positive learning atmosphere, especially when addressing complex behaviours.
The ideal candidate will:
- Bachelorandrsquo;s degree in Special Education or a related fieldandnbsp;(Masterandrsquo;s degree desirable)
- Qualified teaching status with specialisation in Special Education
- Demonstrated experience supporting students with PMLDandnbsp;or similar complex learning needs
- In-depth knowledge of PMLD, developmental disabilities,andnbsp;and effective teaching strategies for learners with complex needs
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with staff, families, and external professionals
- A genuine passion for making a meaningful differenceandnbsp;in the lives of students with special educational needs
