Aspire People are seeking enthusiastic and adaptable SEN Teachers to work within a supportive specialist education setting in Peterborough, supporting pupils aged 4-19 with severe learning difficulties, autism and complex additional needs.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference within a school environment where learning is personalised, progress is celebrated and developing independence is at the heart of education.
We welcome applications from experienced SEN Teachers as well as qualified Primary and Secondary Teachers who are passionate about developing their careers within specialist education.
The Role
As an SEN Teacher, you will:
- Plan and deliver creative, engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to pupils with severe and complex learning needs.
- Adapt teaching approaches to accommodate a wide range of cognitive, communication, sensory and physical needs.
- Use practical, sensory and experiential learning opportunities to engage pupils and promote progress.
- Support pupils in achieving their individual learning targets and EHCP outcomes.
- Create a positive, structured and nurturing classroom environment.
- Implement effective behaviour support and emotional regulation strategies.
- Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, families and external professionals.
- Promote independence, communication, social development and essential life skills.
- Monitor and celebrate individual achievements, recognising that progress looks different for every learner.
About You
We are looking for teachers who:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Have experience teaching pupils with SEND or demonstrate a genuine interest in specialist education.
- Have an understanding of autism, severe learning difficulties and complex additional needs.
- Can confidently differentiate teaching and adapt learning to meet individual abilities.
- Are creative, patient, resilient and passionate about inclusive education.
- Have strong classroom management and positive behaviour support skills.
- Can build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues, parents and other professionals.
- Are enthusiastic about delivering a personalised curriculum that promotes meaningful progress.
Experience with multisensory teaching, alternative communication methods, EHCPs or specialist SEND curricula would be particularly beneficial.
Teachers from both Primary and Secondary backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
Previous specialist school experience is advantageous but not essential for candidates with the right skills, attitude and willingness to learn.
