Daily Rate: £174.71 – £240.71 (dependent on experience) 

 

Supply Desk is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive specialist provision in Brighton and Hove, who are seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN Secondary Teacher to join their team on a full-time basis from September 2026. This is a rewarding opportunity to support secondary-aged pupils with a range of additional needs, helping them access learning, build confidence, and achieve positive outcomes within a structured and nurturing environment. 

 

About the Role 

As an SEN Secondary Teacher, you will deliver engaging and differentiated lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, adapting teaching to meet the individual needs of pupils with SEND. You will work closely with support staff, SENCOs, therapists, and wider professionals to create a safe, consistent, and inclusive learning environment where pupils can develop academically, socially, and emotionally. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Plan and deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons for secondary-aged pupils with SEND 

  • Support pupils with a range of needs, including ASC, SEMH, MLD, and communication difficulties 

  • Develop and adapt learning activities in line with EHCP targets and individual support plans 

  • Create a calm, structured, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment 

  • Assess, monitor, and record pupil progress effectively 

  • Use positive behaviour support strategies tailored to individual needs 

  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, SENCOs, therapists, and external professionals 

  • Promote pupil independence, confidence, communication, and social development 

 

Candidate Profile 

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent 

  • Experience teaching within a secondary school or specialist SEND provision 

  • Strong understanding of SEND, differentiation, and inclusive classroom practice 

  • Calm, patient, resilient, and adaptable approach to teaching and behaviour support 

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills 

  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families 

  • A genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs to achieve their potential 

 

Requirements 

  • UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent 

  • Experience working with pupils with SEND within a school or specialist provision 

  • Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service (or willingness to apply) 

  • Two professional teaching references 

  • Eligibility to work in the UK
