SEN Teacher – Full-Time, Permanent

Location: Watford
Start Date: September 2025

The Opportunity:

A highly regarded specialist school in Watford is seeking a committed and experienced SEN Teacher to join their team from September 2025 on a full-time, permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate educator who is dedicated to supporting pupils with autism, as well as associated needs such as speech, language, sensory processing, and behavioural regulation challenges.

You’ll be part of a nurturing, well-resourced environment with small class sizes, strong staff-to-student ratios, and a collaborative multidisciplinary team. The school takes pride in delivering tailored learning experiences that empower every student to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and deliver differentiated lessons that meet the diverse needs of pupils with complex SEN, particularly autism

  • Establish structured routines and use visual supports to aid communication and learning

  • Work closely with TAs, therapists, and families to provide joined-up support

  • Track and report on pupil progress against EHCP outcomes and individual learning targets

  • Implement evidence-based strategies to foster emotional regulation and independence

  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment

  • Participate actively in CPD and contribute to the wider school community

About You:
  • Qualified Teacher Status - desirable but not essential

  • Proven experience supporting children or young people with SEN, ideally in specialist or alternative settings

  • Strong understanding of autism and related developmental needs

  • Patient, resilient, and nurturing in your approach to teaching

  • Confident communicator and effective team player

  • Hold (or be willing to obtain) an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service

What the School Offers:
  • A warm, inclusive, and supportive school culture

  • Small, well-equipped classes and committed support staff

  • Access to specialist CPD, including training on autism, sensory integration, and communication strategies

  • Competitive salary (based on experience) with scope for progression into leadership or specialist roles

  • Generous holiday entitlement and a healthy work–life balance

  • Purpose-built facilities tailored to pupils’ sensory and communication needs
