SLD SEN Teacher – Easter 2026 Start

Location: Aylesbury
Full-Time / Part-Time
Start Date: Easter 2026
Salary: £29,344 – £44,919

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SLD SEN Teacher to join a specialist school in Aylesbury from Easter 2026. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to support pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties, helping them develop vital communication, independence, and life skills within a structured and nurturing environment.

You will become part of a committed team that delivers personalised learning pathways, promotes meaningful progress, and ensures every learner feels safe, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential.

 

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver differentiated, person-centred lessons aligned with EHCP outcomes, focusing on communication, cognition, independence, and life skills
  • Develop and implement individualised learning plans tailored to each pupil’s developmental stage, sensory needs, and communication profile
  • Utilise a range of total communication methods, including Makaton, PECS, visual supports, and other AAC systems
  • Create a structured, predictable, and supportive classroom environment that encourages engagement, emotional regulation, and consistent routines
  • Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team, including speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, behaviour specialists, and support staff
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress regularly through observation and evidence gathering to inform future planning
  • Build strong, positive relationships with parents, carers, and external agencies to provide cohesive support for each learner
  • Lead and mentor teaching assistants, promoting best practise in SEN support, communication, and behaviour management
  • Maintain accurate records and uphold the highest standards of safeguarding and child protection
 Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
  • Experience working with learners with SLD, complex communication needs, or developmental delays
  • Strong understanding of differentiated curriculum design, sensory learning approaches, and structured teaching methods
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative and inclusive approach
  • Resilience, patience, and a commitment to supporting progress at all levels
  • Comprehensive knowledge of safeguarding policies and child protection procedures
