A welcoming and well-resourced specialist school in Hemel Hempstead is seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teacher to join their team on a permanent basis from September. The school supports children with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and complex medical needs, delivering a nurturing, therapeutic and highly personalised approach to education.

Applications from mainstream teachers looking to transition into SEN are warmly welcomed, and full specialist training will be provided.

About the Role:

As an SEN Teacher, you will:

  • Teach a small, structured class of pupils with diverse and complex needs
  • Plan and deliver personalised learning programmes that support academic, social and emotional development
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, including therapists, medical staff and specialist support assistants
  • Create a sensory-friendly, engaging and safe classroom environment
  • Use a range of communication and learning approaches such as PECS, Makaton or sensory-based strategies (training available)
  • Build strong relationships with families and external professionals to provide holistic support

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
