We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join our specialist school in Chelmsford. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people with a range of special educational needs, helping them to achieve their full potential both academically and personally.
Working closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals, you will play a vital role in creating a positive, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment where every pupil can thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils with a variety of Special Educational Needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Speech and Language Needs, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging and differentiated learning activities.
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support tailored to individual education plans.
- Encourage independence, confidence, and positive behaviour.
- Support pupils with personal care where required.
- Help create a safe, positive, and stimulating learning environment.
- Build strong relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues.
- Record and report on pupil progress and wellbeing.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with children or young people with SEND (preferred but not essential).
- Is patient, caring, resilient, and adaptable.
- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Can remain calm under pressure and respond positively to challenges.
- Has a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
- Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Holds GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
