SEN Outreach Tutor (Complex Needs, ABA, PMLD) - Barking and Dagenham
ABOUT THE ROLE
Prospero Teaching is currently seeking dedicated and experienced Outreach Tutors to provide tailored 1:1 tuition to children and young people with a range of complex needs, including SEN, PMLD, ASD, and those requiring ABA-based support in Barking and Dagenham. These students are currently not in mainstream education and require bespoke, engaging interventions to help them re-engage with learning.
As an SEN Outreach Tutor, you''ll deliver structured, personalised sessions-often in-home or in community settings-designed to support academic progress, boost self-confidence, and develop positive learning habits. Students may have EHCPs and could display challenging behaviour, so experience with trauma-informed practice or therapeutic approaches is highly desirable.
This role is ideal for educators looking to move away from the traditional classroom and make a direct, life-changing impact through 1:1 intervention. Full support and training are provided, and timetables can be built around your availability.
POSITION DETAILS
- Role: SEN Outreach Tutor (ABA, Complex Needs, PMLD)
- Location: Across Barking and Dagenham
- Hours: 10-15 per week (sessions range from 1 to 3 hours each; flexible scheduling)
- Pay: From -25 per hour
- Start Date: ASAP
- Contract Type: Ongoing part-time
- Delivery Format: 1:1 sessions - in person (home, community, or agreed safe location)
IDEAL CANDIDATE
- Experienced in working with students with SEN, SEMH, ASD, PMLD, or complex behavioural needs
- Able to deliver engaging, tailored lessons in English, Maths or other subjects at an appropriate level
- Patient, adaptable, and confident in managing behaviour and building rapport with hard-to-reach learners
- Able to commit to consistent hours weekly and build trusting relationships over time
REQUIREMENTS
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS, PGCE, or relevant specialist SEN qualifications
- A minimum of 6 months'' experience in a UK educational setting or working directly with SEND learners
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply for one)
- Right to work in the UK
- Two child-related professional references from the last 2 years
