The Role
This primary school in Balsall Heath is looking for a nurturing and experienced graduate SEN EYFS Teaching Assistant to support two children with significant physical and medical needs. You will provide individualised support throughout the school day, helping the pupils access learning and participate fully in school life. Responsibilities will include supporting mobility, communication, personal care and toileting, alongside delivering physical programmes under professional guidance. You will also monitor fatigue, adapt activities where required and encourage the children to develop their confidence and independence.
 
The Candidate
This role is particularly well suited to a Psychology graduate who is interested in SEND, child development, Educational Psychology or Clinical Psychology. You will be calm, patient and dependable, with previous experience supporting children or young people with additional needs. Experience supporting physical disabilities, medical needs or complex SEND would be highly advantageous. You must be confident supporting personal care and able to follow guidance carefully from teachers, healthcare professionals and other specialists. Moving and handling training would be beneficial, although training can be provided.
 
Requirements

  • A minimum 2:2 degree, ideally in Psychology or a related subject.
  • Experience working with children, ideally within SEND, care or a similar setting.
  • Confidence supporting personal care, mobility, communication and physical programmes.
  • A patient, nurturing and reliable approach, with moving and handling experience desirable.
  • Enhanced DBS – Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.
