Job Title: SEND Commissioning Officer
Location: Southwest Local Authority, Remote/Hybrid (with occasional travel as required)
Contract: Until February 2026 (with potential for extension)
Rate: Negotiable, based on experience
We are seeking an experienced SEND Commissioning Officer to join a dynamic commissioning team within a local authority. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead on the commissioning and procurement of SEND services across education, social care, and health.
- Analyse needs, market capacity, and performance to develop robust commissioning strategies and service models.
- Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to co-produce solutions and drive innovation in service delivery.
- Monitor provider performance, ensuring value for money and improved outcomes for children and young people.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including the Children and Families Act 2014 and SEND Code of Practice.
Essential Requirements:
- Proven experience in commissioning within a local authority setting.
- Strong background in SEND, education, or social care services.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and partnership working skills.
- Ability to analyse data and performance metrics to inform commissioning decisions.
- Strong knowledge of procurement processes and relevant legislation.
