SEN Classroom Assistant

RBAI seek to appoint a SEN Classroom Assistant to work in their Preparatory Department, Inchmarlo Prep School, located in Cranmore Park, South Belfast. This is a temporary post in the first instance, beginning on Monday 24th August 2026 until the end of June 2027. Job Description: SEN Classroom Assistant, 30 hours per week: Under the direction of the class teacher, assist with the educational support and the personal care of a pupil with special educational needs including Down Syndrome who is in the teacher''s care in or outside the classroom. Some of the duties will include: Special Classroom Support -Assist the teacher with the support and care of a pupil with special educational needs, e.g., enable access to the curriculum -Develop an understanding of the specific needs of the pupil to be supported -Assist with authorised programmes (e.g., PLP), participate in the evaluation of the support and encourage pupil participation in such programmes -Contribute to the inclusion of the pupil in school under the directions of the class teacher -Assist with operational difficulties pertaining to pupil needs -Support in implementing behavioural management programmes as directed -Assist pupil in moving around school -Provide continuity of adult care of e.g., supervising play and cloakrooms including hand washing, toileting, feeding etc. For a full job description and person specification please see application pack attached and on our website at Closing Date: Monday 22nd June ..... full job details .....
