The Role

As an SEN Casework Support Officer, you will provide high-quality administrative and casework support across the SEN service. • Supporting parents, young people and their representatives to make informed decisions.
  • Undertaking casework relating to SEN assessment and monitoring processes.
  • Supporting the SEN Management Team to ensure statutory functions are completed within required timescales.
  • Maintaining accurate and timely records on SEN databases and case management systems.
  • Supporting the monitoring of budgets and allocation of SEN resources, including areas such as transport.
  • Attending relevant service meetings and ensuring appropriate information is gathered and recorded.
  • Preparing agendas, minutes and reports for moderation and provision panels and other projects.
  • Developing effective working relationships with colleagues and partner agencies.
  • Ensuring information is handled professionally, accurately and confidentially.
About You

We are looking for someone who is organised, confident and able to work effectively in a demanding environment.

You will ideally have experience of:

  • Working with complex processes, procedures or eligibility criteria.
  • Providing clear and concise advice on sensitive, difficult or confidential matters.
  • Working accurately under pressure and meeting challenging deadlines.
  • Supporting parents, schools and other agencies.
  • Working with databases and IT systems.

Experience within an education or SEN environment would be advantageous, as would knowledge of legislation and regulations relating to special educational needs.

Essential Skills & Requirements

You will need:

  • A good standard of education, including English and Maths at GCSE level or equivalent.
  • Strong literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures and statutory guidance.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines.
  • A calm, confidential and professional approach.
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Self-motivation and the confidence to use initiative and influence where appropriate.
  • A commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.

An Enhanced DBS check, including the relevant barred list checks, will be required for this role.

Why Join Us?

This is a rewarding opportunity to play an important role in supporting effective SEN services and helping ensure that children, young people and their families receive appropriate support.

If you are an experienced administrator or casework professional with strong communication skills and an understanding of SEN processes, we would love to hear from you.
