About the Role
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Maths & English Tutor to join our team in St Helens for an ASAP start. This part-time role offers GBP30 per hour minimum, with the potential for a higher rate depending on your availability. You will be working with students who have Severe Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and experience in managing complex behaviours and emotional challenges is essential.
Sessions will be delivered during school hours, and can take place in school, at the students home, or online, depending on your availability and the students needs. The role is for approximately 20 hours per week, with the potential for more hours based on student demand and your availability.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver tailored Maths and English lessons, adjusting content and teaching methods to suit the academic and emotional needs of each student.
Support students with SEMH needs, fostering a safe and supportive environment that encourages learning and emotional development.
Use positive behaviour management strategies to address challenging behaviours and promote engagement.
Track student progress and provide regular feedback to students, parents, and school staff.
Develop and implement individualised lesson plans that reflect each students unique learning style and emotional needs.
Essential Requirements
At least 6 months of experience teaching or tutoring Maths and English to children.
At least 6 months of experience working with children with severe SEN, particularly those with SEMH needs.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
You must be cleared to work with children (DBS check required).
References from the last two years of employment will be required.
