SEMH Teaching Assistant - Full Time

Location: Bushey, Hertfordshire
Salary: -100115 per day, depending on experience
Contract: Full-time, term time only
Working Days: Monday-Friday

We are looking for a caring, patient and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school environment in Bushey.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children and young people with social, emotional and mental health needs and who wants to make a genuine difference to their education and wellbeing.

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils and teaching staff to provide both educational and emotional support. You will help create a safe, positive and encouraging environment where pupils feel supported and able to engage with their learning.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
• Supporting pupils with their learning and engagement in the classroom.
• Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
• Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
• Helping pupils develop confidence, independence and social skills.
• Working alongside teachers and other support staff.
• Following individual support and behaviour plans.
• Maintaining a calm, patient and consistent approach.
• Supporting an inclusive and positive learning environment.

• Previous experience working with SEMH, SEN, challenging behaviour or vulnerable young people is desirable.

Candidates must either:

• Have a DBS registered on the Update Service, or
• Be willing to apply for a new DBS.

If a new DBS is required, the cost can be refunded after 20 days of successful employment, subject to the applicable terms.
