Supply Desk are currently working with an outstanding SEND school in Swale that are seeking a full-time, long-term Teaching Assistant to join their team as soon as possible until the end of the academic year. About the Role:
As an SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting children with SEMH difficulties, helping them navigate their educational and social challenges in a safe and inclusive setting. You will work closely with students to provide tailored support and create a positive, empowering atmosphere that encourages growth and learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support for children with SEMH difficulties, helping them access the curriculum and engage positively with their peers.
- Implement strategies to support emotional regulation and manage behaviour in a calm, supportive manner.
- Work with teaching staff to monitor and track progress, providing feedback to help guide the childandrsquo;s development.
- Promote the social and emotional well-being of students, offering support as needed.
- Create a warm, supportive, and inclusive environment that fosters positive mental health.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have experience working with children and young people with SEMH difficulties or other SEND needs.
- Be patient, empathetic, and committed to supporting childrenandrsquo;s emotional and social development.
- Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
- Be proactive and flexible, willing to use your initiative to support studentsandrsquo; individual needs.
- Hold a relevant qualification or have substantial experience in a similar role.
- Have a current, valid DBS or be willing to obtain one.
