Are you a compassionate and experienced Teaching Assistant looking to support children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs£ We are currently recruiting for a resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a friendly and inclusive school in Portsmouth.
About the Role:
This rewarding role involves working closely with students aged 7-16 who require additional support to thrive in a school environment. You''ll provide tailored 1:1 and small group interventions, as well as in-class guidance to help pupils with SEMH needs manage their emotions, build confidence, and re-engage with learning.
Whether your background is in primary or secondary education, your experience will be valued in this cross-phase role.
Responsibilities:
Support pupils with SEMH needs in both classroom and 1:1 settings
Help maintain a positive and calm learning environment
Assist teachier in planning and delivering inclusive, engaging lessons
Build strong, trusting relationships with students to promote emotional wellbeing
Work closely with the SENCO and teaching staff to monitor progress and adapt strategies
