Secondary SEMH Teaching Assistant - Bury We are delighted to be recruiting for a Secondary SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated Alternative Education Provision in Bury. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity starting asap, with strong potential to become a permanent position for the right candidate. Role Overview Position: SEMH Teaching Assistant Setting: Secondary Alternative Education Provision, Bury Start Date: ASAP Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm Contract: Long-term, with the possibility of permanent employment Pay: £95-£110 per day (DOE) for the first 12 weeks; equal pay to permanent staff from week 13 Payroll: Paid via PAYE through Now Education (no umbrella companies) Key Responsibilities Provide in-class support to students with SEMH needs, Autism, and challenging behaviours Build positive, trusting relationships through patience, empathy, and consistency Identify behavioural triggers and apply proactive and de-escalation strategies Break down instructions and learning tasks to make content accessible Offer targeted support to individual pupils or small groups as needed Encourage resilience, engagement, and independence Collaborate effectively with teachers, support staff, parents, and external professionals Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment ..... full job details .....
