Location: Taunton, Somerset

Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30am - 3:30pm

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH Support Worker to join a specialist education setting in the Taunton area from 2nd November 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and making a genuine difference in their educational journey.

Working closely with students who may display challenging behaviours or require additional emotional support, you will play a key role in helping them engage positively with learning, develop coping strategies, and achieve their individual goals.

• Supporting students with SEMH needs on a 1:1 and small group basis.
• Building positive and professional relationships with pupils.
• Promoting emotional regulation, resilience and self-esteem.
• Managing challenging behaviour using positive behaviour strategies.
• Working collaboratively with teaching staff and pastoral teams.
• Encouraging attendance, engagement and participation in lessons.

• Experience working with children, young people or vulnerable adults.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Calm, patient and resilient approach in challenging situations.
• Background in education, youth work, support work, residential care, sports coaching, mental health support or similar is desirable.
• Passion for supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning.
