SEMH Class Teacher

Empowering Learning are looking for a Functional Skills SEMH Teacher to work in a specialist Alternative Provision on the Nottinghamshire/Leicestershire border. Experience working in a school setting and experience with SEND pupils is essential. QTS or QTLS is preferred but not essential as attitude and personality are absolutely key. Ability to teach English is essential and other secondary subjects are desirable.The ideal candidate will:Tutoring or training experience (particularly maths or English)Have the ability to teach secondary age pupils.Knowledge of secondary age curriculum expectationsBe highly organised with excellent communication skillsHave a desire to work with, inspire and support children from all needs and backgroundsHave excellent behaviour management skillsUnderstand the expectations against the Teachers Standards.Main Responsibilities:Teaching subjects to KS4 and 5 pupilsPlanning lessons and activities for whole class learning and group learning.Supporting SEND children with their work in a class settingManaging difficult behaviours and implementing the school behaviour policySafeguarding vulnerable pupilsPossible supervising on lunch and break timesSupporting and managing teaching assistants within the classroomBuilding relationships with staff and pupilsCollecting evidence of pupils work to support their assessmentsFeedback to the relevant member of staff about the pupils progressTo have pastoral responsibility for a group of pupilsPotentially lead in ..... full job details .....
