Security Specialist

Closing Date: 7th September 2026

Location: RG7 4PR, located between Reading and Basingstoke, with free onsite parking.

Due to the nature of the work involved, there are limited opportunities to work from home in this role. The successful candidate will be required to work full-time on site at AWE Aldermaston. Candidates should also be willing to work at AWE Burghfield.

Package: From -38,880 per annum (depending on your suitability, qualifications, and level of experience)

Working pattern: AWE operates a 9-day working fortnight. We will consider flexible working requests so that your work may fit in with your lifestyle. Just let us know your preferred working pattern on your application.

We are currently recruiting for a Security Specialist to join the AWE Security team as we work to deliver the support AWE needs in a variety of interesting and challenging posts.

At AWE, security is at the heart of everything we do. Our Security Specialists help protect some of the nation''s most sensitive information, assets and capabilities, enabling critical programmes that support national security.

This is an opportunity to develop broad expertise across physical, personnel, information and cyber security while working alongside experts who are shaping the future of UK defence.

As the key focal point for security engagement, you will:

  • Develop strong stakeholder engagement with key business leaders.

  • Apply security procedures to enable AWE to meet its programme commitments whilst maintaining the highest levels of security.

  • Conduct regular assurance activity to verify that proportionate levels of security are being maintained.

  • Ensure that we assess vulnerabilities and manage risks.

  • Investigate when high standards are not being adhered to and ensure that relevant learning is applied.

  • Maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security, and quality, and be a great team player.
