Section Engineer

We are currently seeking an experienced Freelance Section Engineer to support the delivery of a major multi-billion-pound infrastructure project in the UK.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a flagship scheme involving complex heavy civils, highways, structures, drainage and earthworks packages. The successful candidate will take responsibility for managing sections of work from planning through to delivery, ensuring safety, quality and programme targets are achieved.

Key Responsibilities:

- Managing the engineering and construction delivery of designated work sections.
- Coordinating site engineers, subcontractors and construction teams.
- Overseeing setting out activities and ensuring works are delivered in accordance with design requirements.
- Managing quality assurance processes, inspections, test plans and as-built records.
- Reviewing drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
- Monitoring progress against programme and identifying solutions to engineering challenges.
- Ensuring compliance with project health, safety and environmental standards.
- Liaising with project managers, construction managers and design teams to ensure efficient project delivery.
- Supporting commercial teams with progress reporting and change management where required.

Requirements

- Proven experience working as a Section Engineer on major civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
- Strong background delivering heavy civils works, including highways, reinforced concrete structures, drainage and earthworks.
- Excellent understanding of construction methodologies and engineering standards.
- Experience managing engineering teams and subcontractors on site.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- CSCS card essential.
- SMSTS preferred.
- Degree, HNC or HND in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
