Section Engineer – Major Infrastructure Project

I’m recruiting on behalf of a leading civil engineering contractor for a number of Section Engineers to work on a major infrastructure redevelopment project in Plymouth. This is a long-term, high-security scheme with complex technical delivery – ideal for someone who thrives on large-scale, challenging builds.

You’ll be part of a knowledgeable and collaborative engineering team, supporting the nuclear delivery element of the programme. The role is full-time, site-based, and offers exposure to a wide range of technical challenges and responsibilities.

Day-to-day responsibilities:

• Accurately setting out works and managing dimensional control across a busy construction site.
• Maintaining and calibrating setting out equipment and ensuring documentation is up to date.
• Producing clear technical sketches and effectively communicating setting-out information to teams on-site.
• Monitoring progress against the programme and supporting project systems relating to time, quality, and quantity targets.
• Working closely with site management and engineering teams to ensure all technical requirements are met.

We’re looking for someone with:

• A recognised civil engineering qualification (degree, HNC, or equivalent – Higher Apprenticeship also considered).
• SSSTS and a valid CSCS card (white – PQP or AQP).
• A detail-oriented mindset with proven experience in setting out and dimensional control.
• Strong communication and coordination skills.
• Working towards professional membership (e.g. ICE or IStructE) would be a bonus.
• Must be able to obtain a BPSS clearance
