Section Engineer

Carmichael UK is seeking an experienced Section Engineer with a strong highways background to join a major contractor delivering key works on the prestigious HS2 project in Northamptonshire.

This is an excellent opportunity to play a leading role on one of the UK's most high-profile infrastructure schemes, supporting the delivery of complex highways, earthworks and associated civil engineering works.

As Section Engineer, you will be responsible for managing engineering activities across your section of works, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

• Managing and coordinating site engineering teams
• Overseeing highways, earthworks and drainage activities
• Reviewing and interpreting technical drawings and specifications
• Ensuring works are carried out in accordance with ITPs and quality requirements
• Managing subcontractors and site activities
• Producing RAMS, WPPs and construction documentation
• Maintaining accurate records, QA documentation and reporting
• Working closely with Site Agents and Project Managers to drive programme delivery
• Supporting health, safety and environmental compliance across site operations

• Previous experience as a Section Engineer on major infrastructure projects
• Strong highways construction experience
• Proven background working for Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractors
• Excellent setting out and engineering knowledge
• Experience with surveying equipment including Trimble GPS and Total Stations
• Strong understanding of QA processes and documentation
• Ability to manage multiple work fronts and engineering teams
• CSCS Card essential
• SMSTS preferred
