Section Engineer

Carmichael UK are seeking an experienced Section Engineer to join a leading Tier 1 contractor on a major highways infrastructure project based in Gloucestershire.

This is an excellent opportunity for a driven engineer to support the delivery of key packages, with a focus on earthworks, roadworks and drainage, on a fast-paced and high-profile scheme. The initial contract duration is 3 months, with potential for extension.

• Support the delivery of highways works, with a focus on earthworks and drainage packages
• Oversee setting out and site engineering activities
• Ensure works are delivered in line with programme, quality, and safety standards
• Assist with short-term planning and programme updates
• Manage subcontractors and ensure works are delivered in accordance with specifications
• Maintain accurate site records, including QA documentation and as-built records
• Liaise with the Site Agent, Sub Agent, and wider project team
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements

• Proven experience as a Section Engineer on highways or infrastructure projects
• Strong background in earthworks and drainage
• Previous experience working with Tier 1 or principal contractors
• Good understanding of construction processes and site delivery
• CSCS card (essential)
• SMSTS or SSSTS (desirable)
• Strong communication and organisational skills
