Overview

Long Term Futures are working with a Specialist Alternative Provision academy in Derbyshire to appoint a dedicated Secondary Teacher. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a small, supportive setting with class sizes of up to 10 pupils, supporting learners with SEMH needs and additional barriers to education. You will deliver engaging and adaptive lessons to secondary-aged pupils, many of whom are disengaged from mainstream education.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons to pupils with SEMH and SEND needs
• Adapt teaching strategies to support disengaged learners and promote re-engagement
• Build strong, positive relationships with pupils to support behaviour and progress
• Contribute to a flexible and evolving curriculum based on pupil needs
• Work collaboratively within a small staffing team to support the day-to-day running of the provision
• Support pupils'' academic, social, and emotional development
• Maintain high expectations and a consistent, supportive learning environment

What We''re Looking For

• Preferably Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
• Primary school experience is very much welcomed
• Experience working with SEMH, SEND, or alternative provision settings
• Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
• Ability to deliver engaging, adaptive lessons across secondary subjects
• Resilient, flexible, and able to think creatively to meet pupil needs
• A positive mindset, sense of humour, and commitment to making a difference
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
