Secondary Cover Supervisor

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise lessons across a range of subjects in the absence of the class teacher.

• Ensure students follow the work set in accordance with school policies.

• Manage classroom behaviour effectively, promoting a positive and safe learning environment.

• Provide feedback to teachers regarding student progress and behaviour.

• Support the wider school community as required (e.g., exam invigilation, mentoring, or small group work).

Essential

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to manage and motivate groups of young people.

• Resilience, adaptability, and confidence in a classroom environment.

• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

• Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent), including English and Maths.

Desirable

• Previous experience working with young people (e.g., in education, youth work, coaching, or tutoring).

• Degree or higher-level qualification.

• Understanding of school systems and procedures.

• Term-time only (hours typically between 8:30am - 3:30pm).
