• Contract: Part-time, (4-5 days per week, 8am-1pm)

About the role

• Elementa Wales is seeking an experienced and resilient member of learning support staff to join a through school in Rhondda Cynon Taf.
• Applicants must have strong experience of supporting pupils in a social, emotional and behavioural difficulties (SEBD) setting.
• Working from 8am to 1pm across four or five days each week, you will provide consistent support that promotes engagement, emotional regulation, positive behaviour and access to learning.

Key responsibilities

• Provide structured one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with SEBD needs.
• Use Team Teach approaches and agreed behaviour-support strategies safely and consistently.
• Help pupils regulate emotions, manage transitions and re-engage with learning.
• Work closely with teaching, pastoral and safeguarding staff, recording and reporting concerns appropriately.

Requirements

• Strong recent experience of working with children or young people in an SEBD setting.
• Current Team Teach training is essential.
• A calm, consistent approach and confidence responding to behaviour that may challenge.
• Strong communication, professional boundaries and a commitment to safeguarding.

Desirable:

• Experience in a through school, Alternative Provision or SEND setting
• Knowledge of trauma-informed practice (beneficial but not essential).

Safeguarding

• Successful applicants will also be required to complete an enhanced DBS check and a 12-week (60 paid days) employment trial period.
