Scientific Software Engineer
On behalf of the Met Office we are looking for a Scientific Software Engineer (Inside IR35) for a 6 month contract. Hybrid working with travel to Exeter as and when required. In this role you will provide technical leadership in the re-design, development and translation, maintenance, and support of existing specialised scientific software applications into an updated code base to enable easier scientific changes and maintenance of existing capabilities. As a Scientific Software Engineer your main responsibilities will be to:. Proficiently provide deep and/or broad scientific and technical insight into the re-coding of Legacy scientific software into supportable code.. Engage with internal and/or external users alongside the Project and Product roles in the team to understand the requirements for your work and significantly contribute to the development and evaluation of plans to meet these requirements.. Apply, promote, and support good Quality Assurance processes, best practice and standards in both your and others'' work to ensure agreed standards are maintained and support collaborative team ways of working.. Communicate scientific and/or technical knowledge accurately, concisely and in the most appropriate way in both verbal and written communication to ensure that development is able to be continued long-term..
