This is a full-time, Monday to Friday role, initially running for approximately one term with a strong likelihood of being extended. You will be joining a busy science department where your preparation and technical expertise will help teachers deliver effective practical lessons.

The school is looking for someone dependable and detail-focused who can take responsibility for ensuring practical sessions are properly resourced and that laboratory standards are consistently maintained.

The Role

As part of the science team, you will be responsible for the preparation and organisation required to support practical teaching. You will work closely with teachers to understand lesson requirements and ensure everything is ready before students enter the laboratory.

The position offers a good balance of preparation, equipment management, practical support and general departmental responsibilities.

Main Duties

  • Read and interpret teachers'' practical requirements.

  • Arrange laboratory equipment before lessons begin.

  • Assist during experiments and demonstrations when necessary.

  • Safely clean, maintain and store scientific equipment.

  • Keep laboratories tidy, functional and appropriately organised.

  • Monitor consumable supplies and assist with stock management.

  • Report equipment faults and arrange appropriate follow-up.

  • Maintain awareness of relevant health and safety requirements.

  • Support the science department with general technical tasks.

Candidate Profile

  • Relevant degree, scientific qualification or practical laboratory background.

  • Experience using scientific equipment and working with laboratory procedures.

  • Excellent organisational skills.

  • Strong attention to accuracy and detail.

  • Good understanding of safe working practices.

  • Ability to manage your workload and meet lesson deadlines.

  • Professional and collaborative approach.

  • Comfortable working around secondary-aged students.

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

  • Right to work in the UK.

Why Join?

  • Full-time position from September 2026.

  • Monday to Friday working pattern.

  • Initial placement of approximately one term.

  • Strong possibility of extension.

  • Opportunity to develop school-based technical experience.

  • Work alongside experienced science teachers.

  • Varied practical responsibilities.

  • Competitive daily rate.

  • Ongoing assistance from your dedicated recruitment consultant.

  • Excellent opportunity within Kensington and Chelsea.

If you have the scientific knowledge, practical ability and organisation needed to support a busy school laboratory, we would be interested in hearing from you.
