Job Category: SecondaryJob Type: Full Time, TemporaryJob Location: Wigan/ LeighPay Rate: £115-140 per dayStart Date: September 2026About the role:EdStaff are seeking an organised and reliable Science Technician to join a fast-paced science department at a secondary school in the Wigan / Leigh area from September.As a Science Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the department by preparing materials, maintaining equipment, and ensuring practical lessons run smoothly and safely. You will work closely with teaching staff to support learning across the science curriculum.The role is full-time and due to continue until December 2026, potential to be extended further Key responsibilities:Prepare, set up and clear away equipment, materials and chemicals for practical science lessons across Biology, Chemistry and Physics.Support teaching staff in delivering engaging and safe practical experiments in line with the curriculum.Ensure all laboratory equipment is maintained, cleaned, stored correctly and available for use when required.Conduct routine checks, maintenance and stock control of laboratory resources and equipment.Order and monitor science consumables and supplies, ensuring departments remain well stocked.Adhere to health and safety regulations, including COSHH requirements and risk assessment procedures.Prepare chemical solutions and materials in accordance with departmental guidance and safety standards.Assist with the organisation and maintenance of science ..... full job details .....
