A key aspect of this role is creating an inclusive classroom where barriers to learning are identified and addressed through effective teaching strategies, differentiation, and strong relationships with pupils. You will also support pupils’ social, emotional, and intellectual development, ensuring they feel safe, valued, and motivated to succeed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that supports all learners
  • Manage behaviour effectively in line with school policies, promoting high expectations
  • Adapt teaching to meet the needs of all pupils, including those with SEND, EAL, and varying abilities
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and other staff to support learning and pupil progress
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding pupils’ progress and well-being
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school, including science clubs, events, and extracurricular activities
  • Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and promote the welfare of all pupils

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Experience teaching Science in a secondary school setting (including ECTs are welcome to apply)
  • Strong knowledge of the Science curriculum and effective teaching strategies across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
  • Excellent classroom management and organisational skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A commitment to high standards of teaching, learning, and pupil achievement
  • A proactive and flexible approach to working across different school settings
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
