School Therapist / Counsellor - Redbridge

Remedy Education is currently recruiting for a School Therapist / Counsellor to join a specialist SEMH school in Redbridge.
This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a dedicated team supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Many of the pupils have experienced trauma, disrupted education or other challenges that have impacted their emotional wellbeing, so the school is looking for someone who can build trust, provide consistent support and help pupils develop positive strategies for managing their emotions.
You''ll work closely with the SENCO, pastoral team, teachers and external professionals to ensure pupils receive the right therapeutic support both inside and outside the classroom.
The Role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing one-to-one counselling and therapeutic support to pupils.
- Delivering small group sessions focused on emotional wellbeing, confidence and resilience.
- Supporting pupils with emotional regulation, anxiety, trauma and relationship difficulties.
- Working alongside teachers and support staff to develop strategies that help pupils engage with learning.
- Contributing to EHCP reviews and attending multi-agency meetings where required.
- Keeping accurate, confidential records of sessions and pupil progress.
- Building positive relationships with pupils, families and external agencies.
- Promoting a calm, safe and nurturing environment across the school.
- Supporting staff with advice and guidance around pupils'' emotional needs where appropriate.
- Ensuring all work is carried out in line with safeguarding policies and professional standards.
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds a recognised qualification in Counselling, Psychotherapy, Child Therapy, Play Therapy or a similar field.
- Has experience working with children or young people, ideally within an SEMH, SEND or alternative provision setting.
- Understands the impact of trauma and has a calm, patient and compassionate approach.
- Can build strong relationships with young people who may find it difficult to trust adults.
- Works well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Has excellent communication and record-keeping skills.
- Holds an Enhanced DBS on the Child Workforce Update Service, or is willing to apply for one.
