School Nurse SCPHN Student – Waltham Forest 0-19 ServicesJoin to apply for the School Nurse SCPHN Student role with NHS via Tower Hamlets GP Care Group. This is a development role to train as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN) (School Nurse) with guaranteed future employment opportunities on successful qualification.
Job Responsibilities
Undertake a one-year full-time training course (50% theory and 50% practice) combining university study and clinical placements in Waltham Forest 0-19 services.
Participate in practice placements in Waltham Forest, supported by Practice Education Facilitators, practice supervisors and practice assessors, ensuring links between theory and practice.
Work within the Healthy Child Programme (5-19) and lead on coordination with the skill mix team and local service providers to support children and families.
Develop knowledge, skills and competencies to achieve higher practice level and qualify as a SCPHN health visitor; upon completion, apply for Band 6 SCPHN roles with guaranteed employment through the GP Care Group.
Qualifications and Essential Skills
NMC Registered Nurse and/or NMC Registered Midwife
Current UK professional registration
Two:2 degree qualification or above
At least 1 year post-registration experience
Ability to travel extensively across Waltham Forest and surrounding areas to meet educational and clinical requirements
Desirable: car owner/driver (community-based role)
Knowledge and Abilities
Demonstrate knowledge of current Child Protection legislation
Understanding of the role of the Specialist Community Public Health Nurse
Awareness of developments in Public Health and related policies
DescriptorOn successful completion of the course, you will be eligible to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council as a SCPHN (School Nurse) and may apply for Band 6 health visitor roles via guaranteed employment with the GP Care Group.
