School Kitchen Assistant - Part Time
Part-Time School Kitchen Assistant - Term Time Only
Term Time Only | Specialist School | Part-Time | Excellent Work-Life Balance
Are you looking for a part-time catering role with no school holiday working?
We are recruiting for a friendly and reliable Kitchen Assistant to join the catering team at a welcoming specialist school supporting children and young people aged 5-19 with Autism and associated additional needs.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking for a role that fits around family life or other commitments, as you''ll be working term time only - meaning your school holidays are free!
The school provides a supportive, nurturing environment for a small number of pupils and has been recognised by Ofsted for the quality of its Behaviour & Attitudes and Personal Development.
The Role
Working alongside the School Cook and wider kitchen team, you''ll help ensure pupils receive nutritious, well-prepared meals in a clean, safe and welcoming environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with the preparation and serving of hot and cold meals
- Supporting the Cook during busy meal services
- Keeping the kitchen, equipment and surrounding areas clean and hygienic
- Following food hygiene, health & safety and COSHH procedures
- Helping with deliveries, stock and food storage when required
- Working as part of a friendly and supportive school team
What We''re Looking For
We''re looking for someone who is reliable, hardworking and happy to get stuck in.
Ideally, you''ll have:
- Previous experience within a kitchen, catering or food preparation environment
- Good knowledge of food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness
- An understanding of health & safety and safe working practices
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication skills and a positive attitude
- A flexible approach to supporting a busy school kitchen
Experience within a school, care, residential or healthcare setting would be beneficial, but most importantly, we''re looking for someone with the right attitude and a genuine willingness to contribute to the school community.
Why Apply?
- Term-time only - enjoy the school holidays off
- Part-time hours offering a great work-life balance
- Work within a small, supportive specialist school
- Join a friendly and welcoming catering team
- Make a genuine contribution to the daily lives of children and young people
- Varied role where no two days are exactly the same
If you''re looking for a stable, rewarding part-time kitchen role without evening, weekend or school holiday working, we''d love to hear from you.
