HR Officer - School Based We are seeking an experienced and proactive HR Officer to join a welcoming and well-established school in Slough (SL2). This is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional with previous experience working within an educational setting who is passionate about supporting staff and contributing to the smooth operation of the school.
The successful candidate will provide comprehensive HR support across the employee lifecycle, ensuring compliance with employment legislation, safer recruitment practices, and school policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage recruitment and onboarding processes, including advertising vacancies, arranging interviews, and completing pre-employment checks.
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding and safer recruitment regulations.
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR systems.
- Support managers with employee relations matters, including absence management, disciplinary, grievance, and performance processes.
- Prepare HR documentation including contracts, offer letters, and employment correspondence.
- Monitor staff absence and produce HR reports as required.
- Liaise with payroll regarding contractual changes and employee information.
- Provide advice and guidance on HR policies and procedures.
- Support staff wellbeing initiatives and HR projects.
- Previous HR experience gained within a school or educational setting.
- Strong understanding of HR processes and employment legislation.
- Experience managing recruitment, onboarding, and employee records.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and safer recruitment requirements.
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- High level of discretion and confidentiality.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and HR systems.
- CIPD Level 3 or Level 5 qualification.
- Experience working within an academy trust or maintained school.
- Knowledge of School Information Management Systems and education-sector HR practices.
- Competitive salary of -31,000 - -35,000.
