School first aid lead

Smile Education are recruiting for an experienced School First Aider to manage the First Aid Room within a secondary school.

This role is only suitable for candidates who hold the relevant first aid qualifications required to work within a secondary school and have previous experience working in a similar role with students.

The RoleAs a School First Aider, you will be responsible for managing the school''s First Aid Room and providing appropriate first aid support to students throughout the school day.

You will work closely with students, staff and the wider school team to ensure first aid procedures are followed and students receive appropriate care when required.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain the school''s First Aid Room.
• Provide first aid and appropriate medical support to students.
• Assess and respond to student injuries and illnesses in line with your qualifications and school procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of first aid incidents and treatments.
• Contact parents/carers where required by school policy.
• Liaise with school staff regarding student medical needs.
• Monitor and maintain first aid supplies and equipment.
• Ensure the First Aid Room is clean, safe and appropriately stocked.
• Follow school safeguarding, medical and health and safety procedures.
• Support students returning to lessons following first aid treatment.
• Escalate medical concerns appropriately where further support is required.

Requirements

• Relevant first aid qualifications suitable for working within a secondary school are essential.
• Previous experience working as a School First Aider, First Aid Officer, Medical Assistant, Healthcare Assistant or in a similar role is desirable.
• Experience working with children or young people, particularly within a school setting, is essential.
• You must have a good understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality.
• You must be confident dealing with students who are unwell, injured or require first aid support.
• You must be reliable, calm and able to work independently.
• You must have the right to work in the UK.
