About the Role

The role is on a Fixed Term Contract for 4 weeks, with a chance to be extended for the right candidate.

The Pay would be up to £13.20ph depending on experience, working 23.75hrs per week

A valid DBS would be needed, due to environment.

About the Role


We are recruiting a School Chef to join a friendly school catering team, responsible for preparing and cooking nutritious, high-quality meals for pupils and staff in line with school menus and dietary requirements.
Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook, and present school meals to a high standard, following set menus and recipes
  • Ensure all food is prepared in line with nutritional guidelines and allergen/dietary requirements (e.g. gluten-free, dairy-free, religious/cultural needs)
  • Maintain excellent food hygiene, health andamp; safety, and COSHH standards at all time.
  • Support with portion control, plating, and timely service
  • Assist with stock rotation, basic stock checks, and keeping the kitchen clean, tidy.
  • Work closely with the Catering Manager and team and support training of junior staff/catering assistants.
  • Complete any required food hygiene and safeguarding training

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Chef or Cook, ideally in a school, education, or high-volume catering environment
  • Strong understanding of food hygiene and health andamp; safety in a catering setting
  • Ability to cook from scratch and adapt recipes for dietary needs and allergies.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a small team.
  • Enhanced DBS check required (child workforce)

Desirable

  • Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate (or willingness to obtain)
  • Experience working with children or in a school environment
  • Basic knowledge of menu planning and cost control
