School Caretaker / Site Assistant - Temporary Work

Experienced in maintenance, caretaking or facilities? Local Education is recruiting Caretakers, Site Assistants and Premises Staff to support schools across Essex. Schools regularly require reliable people to step in when permanent site staff are absent, during busy periods or while longer-term recruitment is underway. Assignments could range from individual days to several weeks or longer, with opportunities available across mainstream schools, academies and specialist education settings. The work can include: Opening and securing school premises General site and premises checks Minor repairs and maintenance Moving furniture and equipment Preparing rooms for lessons, meetings and events Supporting contractors attending site Basic grounds maintenance Monitoring health and safety issues Receiving deliveries Responding to general premises issues Helping keep the school safe, clean and operational We are particularly interested in applicants from backgrounds including: School caretaking Facilities management Property maintenance Housing maintenance Construction Security Estates Handyperson roles Building services Previous school experience is desirable, but it is not essential if you have strong transferable experience.
